A sleeping pill allowed me a good nights sleep last night.
It was a perfect day, so I decided to go for a walk. I gave myself a mission to buy new long pants in Centurion Mall. That is about 5 km away. (3.3 miles)
I walked there and bought pants. Looked at watches. (I always look at watches).
At a book store I saw and bought the latest Time magazine.
It was about the trend for cancer patients to wait, and not act on receiving a diagnosis of cancer. There are so many types of cancer, and some just don't need action. Many people die "with" cancer, but not "from" cancer.
One problem is the word "cancer". We so often associate it with a deadly disease. We need different words for the severity and "life risks" of the different types of cancers.
Our ability to diagnose the tiniest cancers now means many more people "have" cancer. Usually the diagnosis results is drastic actions, that do not improve survival rates, but do detract from our quality of life. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. The death rate of many types of breast cancer is the same as in non cancer people.
There are some types of cancers that are genetically proven to increase the risk of a death from cancer, and these should be acted on aggressively even without any cancer being present. Others cancers are slow developing, but the chemo and radiation will harm the patient more than the cancer itself.
Angiosarcoma is aggressive, and needs aggressive action.
I hate using the word "aggressive" or "aggression".
I was taught as a child that:
Aggression - the fighting instinct in beast and man which is directed against members of the same species.
Aggression is an intra-species act. Dogs can be aggressive only to other dogs. Man can only be aggressive to other men. A dog can not exhibit aggression toward a person.
The meaning has changed as I have grown, and now it just means violent behavior between anything and anything. So now days even cancers can be aggressive.
Total distance walked was 12km. (7.5 miles) I got tired on the way back and sat a while and read the Time magazine.
There was also an article about Ben Carson.
Now for bed
