10:00
We slept ok, got up late.
A very busy day ahead.
23:00
I am so tired.
We drove to the House rental agency because there is a screw up there.
We drove to the medical aid place because we are confused. We waited an hour, before a nice lady saw us. She explained a lot.
The small print in the medical aid contract says many things that we did not know about, and are very bad for me.
Such as the medical aid will pay for prosthesis up to 37,000 Rand a year.
Medical aid will pay 3000R a year for glasses., and 4000 a year for dental. They will also pay so much for chronic meds, and so much for consultations.
In small print it says "if funds are available". I am long out of funds for the year, so none of those are available to me. My funds for the year are only R15,000. So I can get R37,000 for a prosthesis as long as I don't exceed R15,000. Assholes.
My claims so far paid by Medical Aid this year are R197,000. This amount includes oncology and all hospital and surgeon expenses of my amputation. Considering that, I guess I shouldn't complain. If I could have foreseen the misfortune that hit me this year, I would've chosen to upgrade to a better medical plan the beginning of this year already.
The lady explained what we should do. So I am going to upgrade my medical aid plan, starting 1 Jan. It will cost me a huge amount more, But I get far better coverage for things like prosthesis, chronic meds, and Oncology. Then the next year I cut my plan way back, to recover the extra monthly costs.
We then went shopping for more crutch holders, and shower things.
After shopping, were parked in a large under ground parking garage when there came a hail warning. HUGE rains, floods, and hail. We sat in the safest place for miles and waited it out. The parking lot filled quickly with cars and trucks from the street seeking refuge. When it let up we zoomed home through flooded streets. We need the rain so bad.
I was driving, and at home I stopped by the front door for Maddie to quickly carry everything in. I then drove the car around the back. Part of our driveway was about 20 cm (1 foot) deep in water. I figured I would just get very wet crutching through that. I parked the car in the carport, and got out.
Then here came Maddie. Barefoot with pants rolled up, and an umbrella. She said that she didn't want me crutching through deep water where I couldn't see where to put the crutches. So she would now drive me from the carport, to the front door, then she would drive back to the carport, and walk back. That deserves a smooch for sure.
We were out of the house almost the whole day, trying to organize and sort out all the problems before my next chemo treatment this coming Wednesday. I didn't crutch very far today, but I was on crutches a lot, and had to get up and down many times.
Now we are both very tired, but also satisfied after a fruitful day.
